Introduction: What is Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch?

Ubiquitous ID Center is an organization with an aim to establish and disseminate core technology to automatically recognize "objects" and "places," and eventually realize ubiquitous computing. Our activities to realize these objectives are as follows;

1. Establish ID system ucode provided to "objects" and "places"
2. Establish core technology to use ucode
• ucode tag: Data carrier device to store ucode (RFID，smart card，Active Chip, etc.）
• Ubiquitous Communicator: A terminal to obtain ucode from ucode tag and provide its users with information and service based on the ucode
• Information communication core technology to retrieve information related to ucode
3. Establish core technology for ucode and wide-area distributed secure system to distribute the information associated with the ucode
4. ucode space allocation
5. ucode resolution database operations
6. Operations of certification authority for secure communication

Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch is an organization which is certified by Ubiquitous ID Center to conduct the following activities as part of the above activities;

1. Recruit members using the name of "Ubiquitous ID Center"
2. Collect membership fee from the members
3. Allocate ucode to the members
4. Operate ucode resolution service

Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch is provided with the name “Ubiquitous ID Center, ###.” The part, ### shall be the name of the city or region (e.g., Tokyo, Paris, Singapore). However, it shall not be the name of the country.
Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch can play a major role in the deployment of ucode technology which is an international standard in you region or country.

Conditions of Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch Establishment

• Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch shall be a neutral organization which conducts nonprofit activities.
• An organization which runs Local Branch shall be an Executive Committee Member of T-Engine Forum.

Procedure for Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch Establishment

1. Submit “Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch Establishment Application” to the T-Engine Forum Secretariat.
2. The T-Engine Forum Secretariat puts the application on the Committee Meeting and Executive Committee Meeting of T-Engine Forum.
3. Once the approval of the establishment is granted by the Executive Committee, a contract will be concluded between an organization which runs Ubiquitous ID Center/Local Branch and T-Engine Forum.
